The Quad Cities Pickleball Club offers several types of lessons both for beginners and for people who have been playing for a while and want to improve their skills.

There are three levels of lessons:

PICKLEBALL 101

These lessons are intended to introduce the game to people who have never played before or have played a little and want to learn more about the game and its rules.  The lessons are free and are provided by volunteers of the Quad Cities Pickleball Club.  Paddles and balls are provided.

Pickleball 101 classes are held in Rock Island at the Rock Island Fitness & Activity Center (RIFAC), and in Bettendorf at Kiwanis Park.

Stay tuned for upcoming sessions!

A beginning Pickleball class will be held Thursday, July18, from 6-8 p.m. at the Rock Island Fitness and Activity Center (RIFAC).  There is a $4 gym fee, ($3 if you are a member of RIFAC) and you can rent a paddle for $1 if needed.  Both are payable at the counter as you enter the building.

INTERMEDIATE LESSONS

The Pickleball Club periodically offers lessons to help players improve their game after they have been playing for a while.  Typically these lessons are intended to move players up a level, say from 2.5 to 3.0 or from 3.0 to 3.5.  For a description of the levels of pickleball expertise, follow this link:  USAPA-Skill-Rating-Definitions-2020.pdf (usapickleball.org)

These lessons fill up quickly, so the Club is currently using the following approach:

We try to move the lessons around to the wide variety of playing locations in our area, to provide opportunities for people who normally play at each location to participate.

The Lead Instructor, Steve Ebner, works with the Court Ambassador for each selected location, to first try to fill the clinic with “locals”. If the clinic does not fill quickly, then it will be opened up to anyone in the Club.

These lessons are also free to members.

  • To inquire about upcoming plans or to request that a clinic be scheduled at or near your playing location please contact Steve Ebner at ebnersteve4@gmail.com.
