2008:
· Talking to Park Boards about Pickleball
· Clinic held at Northwest Park, sponsored by Davenport Parks
- 40 attended
· Lines painted at Northwest Park, Garfield Park, Emeis, Duck Creek
· Lines chalked on two tennis courts at Kiwanis Park
· Inside play at CASI
· Friends from The Villages introducing pickleball
2009:
· Inside play at Ambrose (weekends only), then at Beyond the Baseline
· Wheeling buckets of cement for net posts.
o Special cart made for buckets (Don and Dick Glowacki
· Southpark Tennis Club opens one court for pickleball on Sundays
· Painted pickleball lines for two courts at Kiwanis (Monday and Friday play only)
· First picnic at Northwest Park; 31 attended.
2010:
· Picnic at Northwest Park; 29 attended.
· Holiday party at Jolane Otto’s house
2011:
· Social gathering at Fairyland
· Picnic at Northwest Park; 35 attended.
· Holiday party at Barb and Chuck Cline’s
2012:
· Dean Easterlund began meeting with local city officials to discuss building dedicated pickleball courts
· Dean was also the first QC-area Ambassador for USA Pickleball
· First year for pickleball at the Senior Olympics.
o Broke the record for the most participation in a new event
· Barb Cline and Jolane Otto began training sessions in July
· Fran Riley TV spot on pickleball. Created lots of interest
· Picnic at Northwest Park; 64 attended
2013:
· Held a meeting May 2 to create a pickleball club.
o There were 119 members by yearend
· Club bylaws created on June 2
· At the first Club board meeting, 25 people donated $100 each in a fundraiser for dedicated pickleball courts
· First website created in July
· Ribbon cutting for Kiwanis pickleball courts
o Possibly the first dedicated courts in Iowa
· Indoor play at Bettendorf Community Center
· 81 attended the annual picnic
